5 years of #PortfolioDay
This October will mark five whole years of #PortfolioDay! That’s five years of connecting artists with clients. Five years of filling feeds with incredible work. Five years of witnessing the incredible strength of the creative community. Thank you so much for supporting one another all this time and thank you for supporting my efforts to keep this thing going.
It goes without saying that the last couple of years have been a dizzying time to be a creative. It gives me strength to see artists still doing their thing despite it all. I am in awe of the incredible activist artists who have been lending their time to causes that benefit us all. Help when you can, preserve your energy when you can’t.💛
The future of #PortfolioDay
I’m gonna level with you, running this event takes a lot of work. Ever since Mr. Musk started messing with Twitter, many sites have cropped up to try and claim their throne. At this time, there is no way for me run this with the same energy on all of these platforms. #PortfolioDay makes the most sense when it functions as a way to connect artists with clients and it needs to run where those clients spend time. Right now, Mastodon and Threads don’t seem to be it. #PortfolioDay will still be on Twitter (until it becomes paid only, and then ✌️) and I’ll be redoubling efforts on Instagram.
I’ll continue to evaluate where people want to be and–if it makes sense–I will pivot where #PortfolioDay is being actively run. Thank you for your understanding!
